Hi y’all! Welcome to my blog. I'm glad you're here. I’ve done this before. Lots of times actually, but I always got a little overwhelmed with keeping up my newsletter, social media, and the blog. This time, I’m taking a different approach. Rather than try to post weekly, I’m only going to post (shocker) when I have something to say.
I’d like this to be a fun place to catch up on things between newsletters, but also a little more in depth than social media allows. I’ll be posting behind the scenes information, work in progress updates and snippets, inspiration behind stories and scenes, how all of my worlds connect, answering reader questions, and more.
If you don’t already know about me, here’s a little background information.
I began my career on Wattpad over ten years ago. I learned a lot about crafting stories and reader interaction there, and I met some great friends along the way. I even won a Watty award for a science fiction book I wrote with my friend Crystal Crawford. I was accepted into their stars program, and was so excited to really launch my writing to the next level.
Then Wattpad and I had a disagreement. I didn’t like the bent they took toward segregation, specialized “groups”, and spicy, sexually charged material. I took the hit, left Wattpad, and ventured off on my own. I failed a lot. I had a few wins here and there. I definitely learned a lot about patience and practice.
I also learned I cannot be fulfilled writing in one genre. That’s why you’ll see fantasy, sci-fi, mystery, thrillers, romance, and maybe even some historical in the future (if I’m brave enough.) I have a lot more to say, and I can’t wait to work on all of the hundreds of ideas I have. Okay, maybe a few dozen if the good Lord wills it.
I am a Christian homeschooling mama, and that takes priority over everything else. I think you’ll see that in my stories, especially those written in the last few years. I like to write my faith as I practice it every day. It isn’t always about those big moments and interactions with God, but the little moments. The times when you trust even when it’s hard. I like showing the average Christian life in my books, so to speak.
In the future, I’ll share the deeper reason why I started writing, but let’s keep it light for now. It’s been an escape for me, a way to say what I want to say while using the creativity God gave me.
Some other things I love are family history research, puzzles, hiking, redecorating my home, attempting to make sour dough bread and repeatedly failing (listen, that stuff humbles you,) and learning new things like random, useless information.
My husband is a navy vet and a firefighter, and we have one kiddo. We also have two very naughty dogs (a walker hound and a boxer) and one Russian dwarf hamster. Frankly, the hamster causes the least amount of drama. We live in the Savannah, GA area, but we’ve also lived in a few other states that I often write about in my stories.
I’d love to get to know you, too! Tell me about you in the comments!
