My Business Moving Forward

A lot of people are making changes...

Oddly, I was already in the process of changing up some things, and now only feel more convicted to do so.

Let me start at the beginning...

When I started writing, I wasn’t a true believer. I knew I wanted to write “clean” but adding faith to my books wasn’t something I wanted to do, felt the need to do, or even would have known how to do if I wanted to.

Many of my early books are, in fact, clean...but they aren’t GOOD. They aren’t ALL from a Christian worldview as they should be. For a long time, I thought it’s okay. They’re still clean (no sex, no profanity, no violence) but I was rather harshly convicted in recent months that they are not “okay,” and I took them down.

Here’s where things get complicated...

I do intend to rewrite my old work to show Gods redeeming glory and love, but it will take time. In addition to the time investment, some plot points will need to change, which will change large chunks of the book.

This means new listings on Amazon, new copyrights, etc. It will also be costly, which is why it will need to happen slowly.

But here’s another problem...

Many of them are in audiobook format and under contract. I can’t change those for seven years, and many of them still have several years left on the contract.

What does that mean?

Frankly, it means you might grab an audiobook with my name on it and be disappointed.

They are clean, rest assured, but they do lack the faith element you’ve come to know from my work.  As such, I highly recommend avoiding my audiobooks and stickign to e-books and print books for now. I don’t have plans to make any additional audiobooks for a long time, but if there IS an audiobook available that I can faithfully recommend, I will.

What I’m doing in the meantime...

I’m reading through my backlist, making plans, and taking notes. Some books will only require a little tweaking here and there. Some will need whole rewrites. I’ll announce each project as it comes, along with new projects for the coming years (Lord willing.)

In other business news...

Some of you know I love fantasy writing. It really stretched my writing muscles, and I miss it desperately. I’m in no way saying that sweet romance doesn’t have a place in fiction.

Obvioiusly, it does. It brings laughter and healing, and sometimes a much needed break from reality.

I do still love it, but I’m craving those deep workds, complex plot structures, and, honestly, my dragons. I want to work on fantasy series that I have neglected over the past two years.

What does that mean for my sweet romance series that are still open?

Don’t worry, I’ll still write those. They will probably slow down but they will still come.

I can’t keep up the pace of 4-6 sweet romances a year and also write fantasy, which is what my heart is craving.

I will write what God calls me to write, at His pace, in His time. That’s all I can say. I am positive that will include a variety of genres, voices, plots, and so much more. After all, He gave me the gift of storytelling, and I cannot fathom that He would give me success as a writer then tell me to be quiet.

I can’t give you a schedule. I can’t tell you the next book. What  I will do is give you regular updates about what series are open, what I am working on, and what I am MOST LIKELY going to write next if God’s will permits.

You will also see some different things on my Instagram and Facebook feeds.

More sharing Gods word, more sharing my thoughts on social and current events, and more invitation for discussion.

Those parts of me have been pretty quiet the past two years, and I want to show you more of who I am and what I stand for. I want a deeper connection to readers than a tropes list and swoony kiss quotes.

I hope you stick around and share with me, but if you feel the need to go, that’s okay too.

Just know that I, like many others, don’t care about being blacklisted or cancelled. Jesus worked too hard to save me for me to care about anyone’s opinion but His.
